For the last five years, every MacBook Pro looks the same. They all come with a digital touch bar, thunderbolt ports, and no HDMI or SD card slots. The most presumably annoying part is the thicker horizontal and vertical borders of the screen. It has been a course of concern for most people but not all.

According to popular sites like MacRumors, Blomberg, and people like Ming-Chi Kuo, it seems Apple has decided to listen to their userbase for once. Apple is expected to release 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro’s later this year. And with it comes a new design and age for the MacBook lineup.

What’s new?

  • According to rumors, Apple is redesigning the MacBook pro to look a lot more like the iPhone 12. That means no more curved or wedged design. Rather the MacBook Pro’s will feature a flat-edge design on top and bottom. Also, the thick bezels surrounding the current MacBooks would be removed, in favor of thinner bezels. Thus the MacBook Pro will be thinner and lighter.

  • Improved display. The upcoming MacBooks are said to feature Mini LED rather than the LCD retina displays of today’s MacBooks. Mini LED is more energy-efficient than LCD panels. It also provides better blacks than LCD panels. Whiles the price is also lower than the more complex OLEDs. Mini LED gives users both the best of OLEDs and LCDs.

  • Removal of the touch bar. The function keys are said to reappear in these new MacBooks. Apple removed the most hated feature, the touch bar which first appeared in the 2016 MacBook’s. I know this would be good for a lot of folks out there. t remains rumors, so let us sit with our fingers crossed waiting for Apple.

  • The return of haven of ports. All ports, including the USB-A, HDMI, and SD card reader, were all stripped off from the Macbook in 2016. They never made a return since then. But with these new rumors comes the return of the HDMI and SD card reader. The SD card and the HDMI will be the only returning ports from 2016. This will appeal to a lot of photographers who tend to use the SD card reader.

To Conclude

Apple has now listened to its user base, the introduction of a new thinner and lighter MacBook pro is welcomed, the SD card reader and the HDMI is also a good addition as it would reduce the itch to use USB type C dongles, and safe money. The MagSafe feature is also a very good addition as it would help protect MacBooks. And the new MacBooks would likely feature the rumored M1x chips.
