Kanban is Focused on Lean Principles

Lean is a philosophy that aims to eliminate waste and improve efficiency. It originated in the manufacturing industry, but has since been adapted to a variety of other fields. Kanban, which is based on Lean principles, focuses on visualizing work, limiting work in progress, and continuously improving processes.

Scrum, on the other hand, is a more rigid framework that emphasizes time-boxed sprints and roles. While Scrum can be used in conjunction with Lean principles, it is not inherently Lean in nature.

So why is Kanban the better choice for Lean-focused teams? For starters, Kanban is designed to optimize the flow of work, which is a key tenet of Lean. The use of a Kanban board allows teams to visualize their workflow and identify bottlenecks, making it easier to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, Kanban’s focus on limiting work in progress ensures that teams don’t take on more than they can handle, reducing the risk of overproduction and waste.
